DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Unsigned Iowa 980 begins at US 34 approximately one‑half mile west of the City of Ottumwa, and travels easterly to the City of Ottumwa.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑980‑0(3), between Wapello County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred Unsigned Iowa 980 from US 34 near the E ¼ Corner NE ¼ Section 28‑T72N‑R14W southeasterly to the west corporation line of the City of Ottumwa to county jurisdiction on December 22, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Unsigned Iowa 980 in Wapello County from the primary road system.

 

Remove Unsigned Iowa 980 and its extensions in Wapello County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately ¼ mile south of the NE Corner Section 28‑T72N‑R14W; thence in a southeasterly direction through Sections 28 and 27‑T72N‑R14W to the west corporation line of the City of Ottumwa connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Ottumwa:

 

Beginning at a point approximately 250 feet east of the center of Section 27‑T72N‑R14W; thence easterly on unnamed street approximately 250 feet.

 

Also

 

Beginning at a point approximately 1300 feet east of the center of Section 27‑T72N‑R14W; thence easterly on unnamed street approximately 600 feet.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Unsigned Iowa 980 begins at US 34 approximately ½ mile west of the west cor­poration line of Ottumwa, and travels southeasterly to said corporation line; it also travels on two short segments in the next ½ mile inside Ottumwa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Unsigned Iowa 980 in Wapello County should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the new description of Unsigned Iowa 980 in Wapello County as referred in the attached detailed description be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

 

Locate Unsigned Iowa 980 and its extensions in Wapello County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately ¼ mile south of the NE Corner Section 28‑T72N‑R14W; thence in a southeasterly direction through Sections 28 and 27‑T72N‑R14W to the west corporation line of the City of Ottumwa connecting with an unnamed street.
